Performance Feedback Criteria for Practical Assessment

This document provides the different stages in which a participant will be assessed in his Practical Assessment. The detailed list of criteria for assessment is provided herewith.

I. Stage I

Introduction

  1. Mediator opening Introduction
    • Setting the tone and expectations.
    • Welcoming the participants.
    • Clarifying the purpose of the session.
    • Establishing ground rules.
    • Addressing parties appropriately.
  2. Parties Introduction
    • Engaging parties in introductions.
    • Guiding parties through ice-breaking activities.
    • Encouraging an open and inclusive atmosphere.

II. Stage II

Content Delivery

1. Clarity and Communication

    • Clarity in conveying information.
    • Effective information sharing.
    • Appropriate and strategic use of content.
    • Identifying parties’ comprehension level.
    • Using neutral and inclusive language.
  1. Engagement and Interaction
    • Encouraging parties’ questions and discussions.
    • Responding to queries promptly and comprehensively.
    • Demonstrating active engagement with participants.
    • Fostering a dynamic and interactive learning environment.

III. Stage III

Problem Solving

    • Demonstrating skills developed throughout the training program effectively.
    • Neutral framing of techniques and concepts.
    • Guiding parties through hands-on exercises.
    • Providing clear and concise instructions for skill practice.
    • Identifying Zone of Possible Agreement (ZOPA).
    • Assisting parties to understand the impact of the present dispute on their interests. (BATNA, WATNA)
    • Offering constructive feedback during skill practice.
    • Addressing challenges and adapting to participants' needs.

IV. Stage IV

Settlement

    • Creativity and Solutions.
    • Response to offers and providing counter offers.
    • Dealing with impasse and obstacles.
    • Consistency with the client’s interests.
    • Outcome achieved.
    • Drafting of a Settlement Agreement.

V. Stage V

General conduct

1. Ethical Considerations

    • Demonstrating ethical mediation methods.
    • Maintaining a professional demeanor and response.
    • Addressing participants' concerns with sensitivity.

2. Collaboration and Teamwork

    1. Ability to collaborate with co-trainers effectively.
    2. Division of responsibilities and supportive teamwork.
    3. Enhancing the overall training experience through cooperation.
